About
I work out of Stow, Massachusetts, on two things that look unrelated and are not: websites for businesses close enough to drive to, and advisory for founders building something physical.
Where this comes from
My father's. I grew up in it, and I learned to read a technical drawing before I learned to drive. That is not a charming detail I put on a page because it sounds good. It is the reason I think about work the way I do.
In a machine shop, being wrong is not an opinion you defend in a meeting. The part either fits or it does not, it costs real material to find out, and the person who made it is standing right there. You learn early that the expensive mistakes are made long before anyone cuts anything, and that the useful person in the room is whoever asks the awkward question while it is still cheap to answer.
I have spent my working life since then in software: healthcare IT, enterprise integrations, edge devices, connected hardware. Enough HIPAA-bound data architecture, payer integration and EDI work to know what a compliance problem looks like before it has a name. Different material, the same lesson. Most of what goes wrong was decided months earlier by somebody who did not have anybody to think out loud with.
Both things I do now are versions of being that person for somebody else.
The two things
One is for the person who owns a shop and has never been given a straight answer about a website. The other is for the founder making a decision that costs months if it is wrong. Both are the same job: be the person with no reason to tell you anything other than what I think.
Worth knowing before you call
Small enough that you always know who you are talking to, which is a real advantage and also a real limit. Both are below.
It is me. Every conversation, every line of the site, every memo. Nothing gets handed to somebody cheaper once the work is won. That is the whole proposition and it is also the ceiling: I can only be in so many rooms, and I would rather say that than find out with you.
I will tell you when the answer is no. That you do not need the thing, that the timing is wrong, that I am not the right person for it. It costs me work and it is the only version of this that is worth paying for.
I am not a large firm and do not pretend to be. If you need a team, a twenty-four hour turnaround, or somebody on your standup every morning, that is a real need and I am the wrong answer to it.
Trust is earned, not assumed. This is me earning it first.
If you want to hear me think
Conversations about what building actually costs and what it takes to start over. It is the least filtered version of how I think about all of this, and it is free, so it is a cheaper way to work out whether you would want me in the room than talking to me is.
If you got this far you probably have something specific in mind. Text, call or email, whichever you would actually do. No form to fill out first and no sales call at the end of it.

The name and the town is all I need. I'll build the site and bring it to you. Nothing to pay, and no hard feelings either way.
